Five is the key…
It is all now so clear. Five is the key.
Three times this season, I successfully guessed five correct football games against the spreads.
Problem was – I placed them in 6-game parlays.
Twice, including last weekend, I successfully guessed the first 5-games in my parlays (only to lose it in pathetic fashion on the sixth game). Even the old man had to chime in with a “son, do you HAVE to choose 6-games?” Pipe down, pops!
Five is the key. It was my idea anyway.
So, without any more delay, let’s get right into the action.
Mr. Yours Truly, Mr. SportsKnowItAll, is selecting a 5-game parlay mixed between college football and the NFL.
‘Never Bet the Farm4’ Week 9:
Oklahoma -5 @ Oklahoma State
USC +3 vs Washington
UNDER 38.5 total pts. ARI Cardinals @ CLE Browns
ATL Falcons -3.5 vs MIN Vikings
NY Giants +2 @ LV Raiders
Insights:
Do I feel nervous betting quite possibly the last “Bedlam Game” ever? Of course, I’m nervous about it. The series is nicknamed “Bedlam.” But sometimes the best deals are made when both parties feel a little uncomfortable – learned that on a Shark Tank episode 🦈. Oklahoma is coming off a crushing loss to Kansas last week. I’m betting they take it out on Oklahoma State for possibly the last time 🙁.
Similarly, USC has likely lost their hopes of a College Football Playoff run, but Washington is in the driver’s seat. The Huskies looked like the best team in the NCAA when they played Oregon. But… I think this is a trap game. USC (at home, with nothing to lose, with the reigning Heisman trophy winner) might turn this into a shootout. I’m going with USC and three points for insurance.
There are many backup quarterbacks starting this Week 9 in the NFL. Although it’s trending towards Deshaun Watson starting, the Browns have played P.J. Walker a lot this season and Clayton Tune is ready to make his first start for the Cardinals. Even if Watson plays, in the Cleveland weather and against both of these defenses, I think all of the QBs will struggle. I’m betting the UNDER!
Atlanta is switching to Taylor Heinicke for the first time, while the Vikings replace Cousins with Jaren Hall. It’s a different energy to replace a struggling QB as opposed to an injured one. Plus, people named Taylor have been really popular this season and done pretty well, so I’m sure Heinicke will follow suit. I’m choosing Atlanta to win and cover at home.
The Raiders have fired their head coach and general manager. Plus, they are starting their rookie quarterback Aidan O’Connell over the very pricey Jimmy G. I think the Raiders team will play hard as a positive statement towards their new regime, but it seems like the organization is playing for next season. I’m betting on the Giants with two extra points just in case.
That’s it! Five is the key.
And just like last week, I’m using the DraftKings Sportsbook App, and it looks like (hopefully) my $10 bet might win me $246.28 before Carrie Underwood starts singing about Sunday Nights.
Badda-bing, Badda-boom.
